Qasidah Burdah – The Poem of the Scarf

The writer has composed this poem expressing the grandeur and excellence of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) when he became helpless and despairs due to his paralyzed limbs. With sincerity, complete devotion, and concentration he began reciting it on Thursday night in a quiet place in the hope of getting cured by the mercy of Allah.

Allah granted him a complete cure from his paralysis. When he awoke he found a scarf or Shawl on his body, which he had seen Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) had placed on his paralyzed limbs. This resulted in the poem being named Qasidah Burdah.
